Security and trust
How arnaque.eu protects your data, why we are independent, and how to recognize a genuine official site.
arnaque.eu is a European and independent information service against scams. We are not a public body and we do not claim to be one: our role is to help you understand, spot and avoid traps, then point you to the relevant official services.
Our commitment
- Local analysis. The scanner and the tools run in your browser. When you paste a link or a message, the risk calculation happens on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
- Free and no account. All guides and tools are freely available, with no sign-up and no installation.
- Official sources. We consistently refer you to European and national services to report a scam or get support.
- No fake proof. No fake reviews, no made-up statistics, no fictional authors. When we quote a figure, we cite its source.
Your data
The quick analysis stays on your device. The only exception is the in-depth check of a link: to estimate the real age of a domain and compare it against public reporting databases, we query those services with the domain name only, never the content of your message nor your personal information. You stay in control: this check is clearly indicated.
Recognizing a genuine official site
Scammers impersonate government agencies, banks and delivery companies. A few simple habits help you tell the difference:
- Read the full address. The real domain name is right before the first
/. Be wary of misleading subdomains such asimpots.gouv.fr.exemple-suspect.com. - The padlock is not enough. The
httpsand the padlock only mean that the connection is encrypted, not that the site is honest. A fraudulent site can display a padlock. - An official body will never ask for a password, a verification code, or a transfer by SMS or email to cancel a fraud.
- Double-check on your own. When in doubt, type the official address by hand or use a search engine, rather than clicking the link you received.
- Take your time. Urgency and threats are the scammer's first tools. A legitimate service lets you verify.
If you have doubts about a link, you can analyze it with our checker, then run the in-depth check to find out the real age of the domain.
